I Deserve It (pt. 1)

I Deserve It (pt. 1)

I have a license plate that says,
"I deserve it." Given to me for my 34th birthday by my dear friend and cousin, Sara and her lovely family.
Now, for those of you who don’t know me, my name is Araxia. I am 34 years old. My partner in life is Raphael, whom I have known for more than half my life. Raph and I have a two beautiful children. George William who is 6 years old and Ani Grace who is 15 months old. I'm a 24 hour mommy and 8 hour hospice employee. So ... when do I have time to deserve anything? The answer is usually never, but for 6 years I've been on this "I deserve it" journey.
What am I deserving of?
This is the question I started asking myself after writing my masters thesis on Self Care. What is Self Care? I believe 'self care' and 'deserving' are concepts that may look different to each of us. We all deserve to take care of ourselves, to do small and big things to satisfy our hearts desires. Now the question is what are our hearts desires? The thing is in our culture we are so busy doing, working, going, studying, that we are not being. When we slow down and practice the art of being--which we all deserve to do--we then discover our hearts desires. After we have made this discovery we can then bring it into reality. Once a reality we are now taking care of our inner most being--our heart, which we all deserve to do. (FYI we are only now discovering that the heart has its own central nervous system and is not simply under the rule of the brain!)
I deserve it is the short phrase I use when I listen and discover my hearts desires. (And allow myself to take care of my self, my heart, and my desires).

Wishing you all A BLESSED day,

Araxia Manukyan
